Holiday Cottage Description
Stoneleigh Cottage is a typical Yorkshire Dales holiday cottage, built around 1650, in the picture postcard village of Langthwaite which nestles amidst the impressive scenery of unspoiled Arkengarthdale.
Stoneleigh is a dales holiday cottage that is charming both in and out. The approach to the holiday cottage is a delight with a bustle of colour from the Ivy and established flower beds. Entering the holiday cottage you will instantly see that the cottage is full of character with the original sneck doors and traditional beamed ceilings.
The living/dining room is cosy, seating a family of four very comfortably, the focal point is of course the multi-fuel stove which adds to the character of Stoneleigh Cottage and that additional warmth that so many of us look forward to in the winter months.
Although the kitchen is narrow, its compact, modern layout offers all that you will need for your stay in the Yorkshire Dales. But if cooking isn’t your thing then just minutes away you shall find the local pub, the Red Lion which serves delicious bar snacks and a little further on there is the CB Inn which is a highly regarded and very popular restaurant that provides fantastic meals!
Stoneleigh holiday cottage is in a great location for horse riding, mountain biking and walking as there are a number of tracks and bridleways on the doorstep. What’s great is that it offers you a choice of ambitious and demanding footpaths to easy and manageable walks dependant on your stamina and capabilities.
Stoneleigh is an ideal holiday cottage for friends or families that are keen to explore, due to the central Yorkshire Dales National Park location. You can easily tour all the dales such as Swaledale and Wensleydale, the beautiful towns of Hawes, Leyburn and Richmond and take a trip over the famous Butter Tubs Pass. But, it is also ideal to explore further afield such as Teesdale and Cumbria.
Stoneleigh Cottage is one of our dog friendly holiday cottages, one well behaved dog welcome. There are a number of dog friendly pubs in the area and plenty of walks locally.
To ensure your stay is as comfortable as possible, all bed linen and towels are provided. Electricity is provided and dogs go free. What a lovely Cosy Cottage felt at home the minute I arrived with my spaniel. Lovely walks from the door and even managed to couple of morning runs. Saw a deer and its foal – it was the highlight of my time here - very close and lovely to see. Great walks at Muker, Gunnerside, Redmire and Reeth. The weather has been kind to me - only got slightly wet. The lady across the way was lovely and made time to chat with me. The owner should be congratulated on having made their cottage so lovely. Hope to be back at some point

Lovely well-equipped cottage. Very comfortable beds. Always warm and cosy. Fantastic walks and a great pub next door. Many thanks.
Another great long weekend - really enjoyed the walks in the snow and returning to the warm fire. Again, the pubs and local people were very friendly and welcoming. Already looking forward to our return.

A lovely well-equipped cottage in a great location our family of two adults, two children and a dog. We all enjoyed the walks, waterfalls and pubs. The area is spectacular and we are so lucky be able to enjoy it. We love the Red Lion and there is a perfect snug for the children where we’re able to happily play cards. They were especially interested in the photos of the cast of All Creatures Great and Small which we show them on the cottage’s DVD. The nearby villages and towns are lovely -Reeth, Muker, Askrigg and Leyburn. You don’t have to drive far and there are also lovely walks on the doorstep.

We had a lovely few days at Stoneleigh and very much enjoyed exploring the Dales with a 3 and 6 year olds. Unfortunately, we couldn’t enjoy much walking due to the ages of the children we did enjoy visiting Aysgarth Falls, Thorp Perrow, Richmond Castle and the Forbidden Corner - all recommended. Would love to come back on our own and make the most of the beautiful walks and pubs. The cottage had everything we needed for a pleasant enjoyable stay and we loved the fire even in August. All in all, a very enjoyable stay.

We had a fabulous week’s break in a cottage that has everything at hand. Nothing has been on unthought of. The beds were comfortable after tiring days in the Dales. Rowena at the Red Lion is an amazing lady - so helpful and knowledgeable. We enjoyed every minute.

We really enjoyed our long weekend. The cottage was very cosy and comfortable. It kept us lovely and warm even though it snowed at times. The local walks were very enjoyable. The pubs are friendly and welcoming - shame we’re not staying all week

Fantastic few days in the Dales. We come from a lovely part of the country but nothing half as spectacular as this part the country. Reeth is now our favorite place. Stoneleigh was very well equipped: the owners are to be commended for providing every small thing that might be needed for a comfortable stay.

Our first time in this area and we loved every minute. The cottage had everything we needed including plenty of info on the local area. Highly recommend doing the Dales Trail and taking the scenic detour for walkers.

My Second visit to this beautiful area found by chance, well it was meant to be. It is just an amazing area. The ancient woodland and walks are amazing. The bed at Stoneleigh is so comfortable I’ve never slept so well. We will be back for more walks, peace and tranquillity. Thank you for a lovely place to rest our heads!
Cottage compact but has everything we needed including real ale within 50 yards. Wi-Fi a plus. Forgotten how good the Dales and Moors are. Must come back again sooner.
