Holiday Cottage Description
The Bothy is a quaint one bedroom Yorkshire Dales holiday cottage situated amidst the wooded hillside within the grounds (but, out of sight) of Thiernswood Hall, Healaugh. A wonderful position in which to explore the Yorkshire Dales National Park. The Bothy used to be Thiernswood Hall’s grooms accommodation, but has since been converted and has become a popular holiday cottage in Swaledale that radiates with the Yorkshire Dales’ character and charm.
This traditional Dales holiday cottage feels extremely secluded, tucked around the rear of the neighbouring holiday cottage known as Thiernswood Cottage. The Bothy is accessed via a private stone paved path, with the approach feeling quite magical, with the babble of the stream and the enchantment of the ancient woodland that surrounds you.
You’ll feel immediately at home when entering this accommodating holiday cottage. The kitchen is traditional and compact but, is extremely well equipped to cater more than adequately for your holiday. The dining table seats two comfortably with a view to The Bothy’s private garden and patio area at the front of the cottage.
Down the hall you will reach the modernised bathroom, which is light and airy. To the left is the spacious, and tastefully decorated living room. The living room boasts wonderful views across the immediate farmland to the Swaledale valley and beyond. There are two very comfortable armchairs positioned perfectly in front of the electric log effect stove which adds additional heat to the slim line electric storage heaters should it be required. From the living room you can access the double bedroom which is finished in neutral décor and again has wonderful views across Swaledale.
The Bothy is accessed via a tree lined drive which leads to the large grounds of Thierswood Hall. (This well maintained drive is approximately one third of a mile from the road.) On approach to The Bothy you will see garage parking to your right. This can also be used for the safe storage of outdoor equipment such as bikes or climbing gear.
